A Cop Like Me (shared past fic with Odette)

He frowned, "Sounds like a real piece of work, Jerkules seems to be a better name for the guy." He said with a smirk as he thought about it. "I would like to arrest him though, guys like him need to be put away." He said with a darker frown.

Odette couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, that's the name I give him in my head." She said, giggling a little.

"He's never physically abused me. He just likes to make it seem like I'm the bad guy and have everyone turned against me when I didn't do anything... He likes making me feel like I'm not important or someone he doesn't have to listen to..." She said, shaking her head.

He frowned, "That's not a way to treat anyone, especially a beautiful woman like yourself." He said as he looked down at his mug. "Has he been giving you trouble recently?" He asked after a moment.

She smiled and blushed a little at the compliment. "Thank you, you're very kind."

Odette shook her head. "No, he's too busy with finals like the rest of us are. I'll hopefully won't see him again after we graduate." She said, taking a sip of her hot chocolate.

"But, I'm not worried about him. I'm feeling a lot better, actually." She said, looking up and giving him a beautiful smile.

"Thank you... for letting me buy you that coffee." She said, a little shyly.

He smiled, "Well hopefully one day I can repay you for doing me such a kind service." He said graciously as he smiled at her. "Jerkules doesn't know what he threw away." He added after a moment as he smiled at her.

Odette smiled. "Hey, it's my way of saying thank you for your service." She said, tilting her head to the side.

"Thank you, again..." She said, smiling.

"He really is a Jerkules because he's already with another girl a week after breaking up with me." She mumbled, as she took another sip of her hot chocolate. She didn't even really realize she said it out loud.

His eyes narrowed at her words, "Wow, that sounds bad." He said darkly, his hands tightening on his mug as he spoke.

Odette noticed how his hands gripped his mug. She placed one of her hands on his. "Hey, it's fine. It's a apart of life." She said, trying to get him to relax.

"Besides, it just proved to me that he wasn't the one meant for me; God's got someone else in mind." She said, shrugging, but holding a smile.

"No need to get angry at the guy because of me and my feelings; I've been handling things myself, so I know it's going to be okay." She said. "I'll probably always be bitter at him, but that doesn't mean I'll let it run my life."

He nodded and allowed his hands to relax their grip, "You're a wise woman miss, you sure are one of a kind in these days." He said with admiration as he smiled at her.

Odette smiled at that compliment. "And you as well." She said, feeling it was getting rare for men to be gentlemen nowadays.

"When do you have to get back?" She asked, looking at her watch on her wrist.

He sighed and looked down at his own time piece, "In about ten minutes, however this has been a delightful afternoon if you don't mind my saying so." He said with a smile at her.

"Agreed, it's been a lot of fun. Glad we started talking and I gave you my scarf." She responded with a smile.

She summoned the waiter to pay for the tab. "Hope to see you more often, Officer." She said, smiling, after the waiter left with the money.

He smiled at her fondly, "Likewise Ma'am." He said and gently took her hand so he could press a kiss against the back of it. "Again thank you for the scarf and the coffee." He said quietly to her.

Odette smiled softly. "It was a pleasure." She said, staring into his eyes.

What beautiful eyes... She thought, smiling.

He noticed her eyes staring into his and smirked almost knowingly, "It was indeed Ma'am, would you like an escort to your home?" He asked as he smiled at her, she was beautiful and he wouldn't mind having her on his arm, even if it was only for a short while.

Odetet continued to smile. "If you feel you have the time to do so, I would appreciate that very much." She said, feeling her heart flutter a little.

He nodded, "I think I can escort you to your residence safely and get back in time for my job ma'am." He said and winked at her.

She smiled before she moved to stand up. "I'm going to feel more safe then I ever have before." She said, smiling as she stood.

She placed on her scarf and picked up her coat to put on.

After standing he moved forward to help her put on her coat, "Allow me." He said in a gentle voice as he helped slide the coat on, even buttoning the coat for her. Once he was done with that he offered her his arm, "Shall we go miss?" He asked gently as he smiled down at her.

"Thank you." She said, smiling. "See? Dieing breed." She said, laughing a little.

She smiled up at him as she took his arm. "I suppose we shall." She said, before they took a step towards to the exit. "Oh! My notebook..." She said, before grabbing her notebook and pen off the table. She placed her pocket book safely in her jacket pocket.

"Okay, we're good." She said, smiling at him, before they left the cafe.

He smiled down at her as they excited the café, "I'm glad you remembered that, what's in there anyway?" He asked lightly as they walked together.

Odette smiled. "Oh, just some doodles, plot ideas for both books and plays... Things like that." She said, as they walked. She lifted her scarf over her nose.

"Why does it have to be so cold?" She asked, from under her scarf.

He glanced down at her and smiled fondly at her as they kept walking, "That's a good question, I would much rather it be nice and warm." He admitted with a sigh as he shrugged.

Odette smiled. "Well, at least we have the company right now." She said, looking up at him, still wearing her smile.

The made it around the block and Odette could see her apartment building in site. She was almost dreading heading back to her apartment; she was having such a fun time with the officer.

He does have to go back to work though... She thought, reminding herself.

He smiled down at her, "Is it odd I already miss not talking to you?" He asked as he smiled down at her charmingly.
